2 April, 2012

At least 70% industrial units in Pakistan have been closed down owing to power shortage, said Pakistani Senate’s Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Chairman Senator Ghulam Ali yesterday.

Addressing a press conference at the Haripur Press Club, he said that the government should focus on producing hydelpower and also stressed the need for establishing an expo centre at Hattar Industrial Estate.

Senator Ghulam Ali said, “We will go back to the previous century if hydroelectricity projects are not started in the country.” He said the government should launch hydroelectricity power generation projects to overcome power crisis.
