In Moscow, starting from September 28, a quarantine for people with chronic diseases and pensioners will be introduced against the background of an increase in the incidence of COVID-19. This is stated in a statement by Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

Sobyanin explained that in recent days, Moscow has recorded a "significant increase in the number" of new cases of coronavirus. In this regard, pensioners and people with chronic diseases are advised not to leave the house "without special necessity". Walking and playing sports on the street are not limited to them.

The mayor asked the heads of enterprises and organizations to transfer "as many employees as possible" to remote work, as well as to ensure compliance with sanitary and epidemiological safety measures.

Sobyanin also stated the need to strictly observe the mask regime in transport, shops and other public places.

He expressed hope that Moscow will avoid "a return to strict restrictions".

On September 24, more than a thousand new cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Moscow for the first time since June. During the week, the number of hospitalizations increased by 30%. In addition, Sobyanin saidthat the number of cases of influenza and ARVI has increased threefold since the beginning of September.
