Here is the cartoon propaganda version of events as represented by Radio New Zealand – worthy of, say Pravda in the 1930's. Once-upon-a-time New Zealand could speak with an independent voice on world events.
Syrian killings seen as ''Munich moment'' by Kerry

September, 2013
US
Secretary of State John Kerry believes the world is facing a "Munich
moment" in the Syrian crisis - a reference to the policy of
appeasement that failed to stop Nazi Germany in the 1930s.
The United States accuses President
Bashar al-Assad's forces of killing
1429 people by poison gas in Damascus on 21 August.
"We
in the United States know ... that this is not the time to be silent
spectators to slaughter," Mr Kerry said in Paris on Saturday
after meeting foreign minister Laurent Fabius.
"This
is the time to pursue a targeted and limited but clear and effective
response that holds dictators like Bashar Assad responsible for the
atrocities which they commit."
"There
are a number of countries, in the double digits, who are prepared to
take military action," Mr Kerry said.
President
Francois Hollande of France has said he expects a preliminary UN
report into the incident to be submitted at the end of next week.
The
BBC reports Mr Kerry is due to meet Arab League representatives in
Paris before travelling to London for further talks with British
Foreign Secretary William Hague.
According
to the UN, about 100,000 people have been killed in the Syrian
conflict in the past 2½ years.
