Is Milo Yiannopoulos REALLY a gay-hating, racist, neo-nazi?
There is very little in his political views that concurs with my own but he is an inconvenient iconoclast who who shines the light on some very dark places as western civilisation declines and finally collapses.
Is
this guy REALLY a neo-nazi?
‘On
the front lines of a culture war’: Yiannopoulos speaks to RT ahead
of #DayForFreedom
RT,
5
May, 2018
British
people are simply too apathetic about politics to care as much as
their US counterparts about how their society is organized, Milo
Yiannopoulos told RT ahead of the #DayForFreedom.
In
a wide-ranging interview, self-proclaimed provocateur Yiannopoulos,
who now resides in the US, discusses why he’s back on home soil to
speak at Sunday’s Day For Freedom in London. He outlines his
particular concern about private citizens acting as ‘thought
police’ and limiting a person’s right to self-expression.
The
bestselling author says the main reason people in Britain find it
difficult to understand “just why the left and right in America are
so brutally horrible to one another” is that, unlike Britons,
Americans are very engaged in political issues regardless of their
education.
Yiannopoulos
says he is “engaged in the business of spreading the gospel of free
speech,” which he believes is one of the “undergirding principles
of our civilisation.” The conservative activist thinks that the UK
is in dire straits when it come to free speech – something he says
is exemplified by the recent conviction of vlogger Count Dankula.
The
YouTuber, whose real name is Mark Meechan, was recently convicted of
a hate crime and fined £800 ($1,080) after teaching a pug to do a
Nazi salute. His conviction sparked debate about free speech in the
UK, and Meechan has found an ally in Yiannopoulos. Comedians Ricky
Gervais and Jonathan Pie have also rallied to Meechan’s defense.
“I
knew that the situation in Europe was bad, my jaw hit the floor...
when I heard that somebody had been convicted, in a courtroom and
[at] public expense, of making fun of Nazis on the internet,”
Yiannopoulos told RT’s Oscar Featherstone.
Yiannopoulos,
who counts himself among the “free-speech refugees from Europe”
in the US, said that it’s “very important that we all come
together to express our horror at the illiberal turn that society has
taken.”
He
believes that himself and other Day for Freedom speakers Tommy
Robinson and Gavin McInnes are on the “front lines” of a culture
war.
“We’re
the ones that get censored first, kicked off social media, get called
names by the press and we’re going to explain to you briefly on
Sunday… what the consequences might be if ordinary Brits don’t
stand up and say ‘Enough is enough.’”
Asked
if he thinks that free speech in the UK is under greater threat than
in his adopted homeland, Yiannopoulos said that while George Orwell’s
visions of dystopia got a lot of facets of the future right, there
were certain details that the ‘1984’ author failed to predict.
“What
George Orwell didn’t foresee about America was that it wouldn’t
be the government that would be infringing on people’s rights to
self-expression, that's happening here. You are forced to speak in a
way that the government approves of in this country, that’s really
the reality,” he said.
“That’s
the future that Orwell envisaged. What Orwell didn’t foresee was
the situation in America, which I think is worse, which is private
citizens policing one another,” Yiannopoulos added. “Through the
institutions and organizations and corporations that they have formed
in the private sector."
“In
America you’ve got universities, the media and – most importantly
– silicon valley and social media policing the language of other
citizens, always in one direction. It’s always the left policing
the right, and I don’t think there is any serious disagreement
about that.” More examples of the insanity Yanopoulos refers to:
In
a case that has triggered public outrage, a top Finnish court has
upheld a ruling that sex between an asylum seeker and a 10-year-old
girl didn’t constitute rape. Critics are calling for harsher
sentences for child abuse.
Finland’s
Supreme Court rejected a request from the prosecution to appeal a
three-year jail term for a 23-year-old man on Thursday. Finnish media
identify him as Juusuf Muhamed Abbudin, an asylum seeker, but don’t
reveal his country of origin.
The
man was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse, although the
prosecution had sought a harsher sentence on charges of aggravated
rape. However, the court left the original verdict unchanged.
There
was anger when the prosecutor's office in the town of Pontoise, a
north-western Parisian suburb, put the father of two on trial for
charges of “sexual
abuse of a minor under 15,” rather
than for rape.
While
the girl's family filed a complaint for rape, the public prosecutor's
office decided that that there was no evidence to suggest that the
sexual relationship had
been obtained by "threat,
violence, surprise or coercion."
I
hope these reflections are reasonably coherent. I have been so sore in the lower back and hips that I cannot sit at the computer for
more than sort periods at a time. Hopefully this will go some way towards explaining my reflections on my own past, as
well as how I see current events.
What
has happened to the idea of human “progress”? Deconstructing Milo Yanopoupolis
Seemorerocks
It
is Saturday morning here and I have plenty of time to reflect on
things and little desire to go following after today's headlines.
There has been a lot of discussion on Facebook of the Events at UC
Berkeley and Milo Yanopoulis. There has been a chorus of people
shouting and jumping up and down, calling him a white supremacist, a
fascist and even a Hitler Youth child.
I
wish to reflect on, and to a certain extent de-construct, some of
the hype behind this.
I read something from a young American saying that they
were "losing what little they had" with Trump coming to power. Do people really believe that all their problems started with the US election, or even on 20 January when Trump was inaugurated, and has nothing to do with anything that came before?
It
seems to me that what people are upset and jumping up and down
about is actually the loss of entitlement to an increasingly less
easy lifestyle that has, with the collapse of capitalism, been
maintained through the export of jobs to cheap labour countries, assaults on the environment, attacks on sovereign countries and – endless bombing.
I
am not judging people, but I am amazed at their amnesia.
Often
I feel that there is little meaning in following the latest headline of
the day or reading the latest article describing how climate
change is happening more quickly and is 'worse than previously
thought' - as if persuading people is going to make things better.
It
is not.
What
we can do is to try and live life as if it mattered, with as much
love and compassion as we can muster and above all doing the things
that give our lives meaning. For me in my diminished state, it is
precisely following the latest headline that gives me meaning - so I
shall continue while I can, despite frequent intentions not to.
I
notice as I get into my 7th decade that I am becoming more socially
conservative. In part that be a result of ageing and (hopefully!)
greater wisdom. It also comes from reflecting on the state of
society and the state of the planet.
I
come from a very privileged background which gave me a free education
which gave me the right to toy around with different ideas about
changing the world. I was able to study whatever I liked (in my
case languages and humanities) so I come with an in-built bias
that these are desirable things and that everyone is entitled to a free,
liberal education or whatever lifestyle they choose for themselves.
The
changes in the last 16 years (since 9/11/2001) and especially the
last 8 (since the 2008 economic meltdown) - as well as listening to
people who can join the dots and make sense of things - have given me
reason to reassess a lot of what I previously believed to be true.
The
reality is that everything has been turned upsidedown.
This
is, in the words of Michael C Ruppert, 'The End of More':
What
can we look forward to other than the political, social, economic and
financial collapse of society, to the rapid destruction of human
habitat as the result of abrupt climate change, and the Sixth
Extinction of which we are now part of?
The
following words of a friend, Robert Atack are as provocative,
shocking and lacking in compassion as you could imagine. For
all that, they are true:
"Regarding
the women's march, and their demand for human rights; The joke is
human rights are a figment of our imaginations, there is no such
thing as human rights. "Humans have the same rights as cockroaches
which in the grand scheme of things is zero. "And with the environment
fast approaching 410 ppm CO2, humans are very soon going to be
extinct, humans have done in 100 years what last time took over
10,000 years – we have taken the atmosphere from about 280 ppm CO2
to 405+, last time this happened something like 96% of life went
extinct, AND all the CO2 we have released via fossil fuels was
happily sequestered below ground, … last time, this time round
humans have filled the atmosphere with several periods worth of
previous global warming gasses that had been removed from the
environment, so this time around it is going to be a bloody sight
worse than maybe any previous period of warming. "And it will not
matter who is running this show, quite simply there is nothing we can
do"
When I was in my
formative years human civilisation was at its highest point, if by
that you mean the physical ‘standard of living’ that it can give
its citizens. Since the mid- 70’s it has all been down-hill.
The oil shocks of the
70’s and early 80’s were an early warning.
The infinite growth
paradigm was given a new lease of life for another generation by
off-shoring jobs, destroying one industry one another, cannibalistic
mergers and takeovers, and commodifying everything right up to water and
air. Until this day the whole rickety structure of the world economy
is only kept afloat by raping the planet (literally burning it),
aggressively redistributing wealth in favour of the 1%, and above all
the wars and the forceful grabbing of resources.
I can see that the ideals
of my youth – whether socialism, feminisim, the hippy
movement - were dependent on an economy that had plenty of surplus.
Even the eastern European version of socialism was dependent on a
growing economy. All of which is saying they were dependent on an
illusion – that growth can go on for ever.
I don’t often think in
terms of generations, but it is clear that my generation (the baby
boomers) is probably the most cosseted in human history. My father
went through the horrors of the Great Depression and had to fight in
a war against Nazism and like many others was determined his children
would not have to go what he (and previous generations) had to.
Now that we are looking
down the barrel at collapse and the demise of our species along with
the Living Planet and with the destruction of the likes of the labour
movement by neo-liberalism, it seems that what used to be progressive
movements have been co-opted by the ruling class for their own needs.
Now we have human rights
organisations defending wars and the likes of the White Helmets in
Syria. The media is nothing more than the propaganda arms of the
State. We now have feminists in Germany chanting “Allahu Akbar”
and defending the mass rape of white European women by Muslim
“migrants” and “Progressives” who have never seen a war they
didn’t like. They are quite happy to bomb any country in the Middle
East or Africa so long it maintains their delusions of “Progress”.
Really, I mean to say can we
“progress”peacefully towards the destruction of the economy which
brings us water from the tap and food from the supermarket and easy
transportation etc. and towards our own demise as a human species?"
Do you think so?
Now can I come to Milo Yanopoulis and recent events in the US, especially at UC Berkeley?
We have this bright 31-year-old provocateur who is seen as such a threat to people's sense of comfort (and to the Establishment) that he has been described by media and social media alike as a fascist, nazi, white supremacist, homophobe and even a "Hitler Youth baby".
Is any of this justified?
I have taken time to listen to what Milo Yanoupolis has to say and a lot of it rubs me up the wrong way, in a similar way to Alex Jones, and interprets the world in a way that to me completely misses the point. However much of his diagnosis is correct and he certainly identifies the corruption of the media and the political class. It is clear from listening to him for half-an-hour or so that he has as little truck with the Republican Party as he does with the Dems. The movement which he represents (along with Trump so long as he delivers on his promises) has little to do with, say the Tea Party. Milo is certainly anti-Muslim, anti-immigration, and reserves a lot of his criticism for the modern feminist movement, the human rights movement and the media. I can hardly say he is wrong, even if for very different reasons. Hear Milo talk for himself after the events at UC Berkeley: This is talk (from the University of New Mexico) where I chose to become acquainted with him: His is a movement of the working class that has seen its unions destroyed and jobs and standards of living eviscerated, as well as the young generation of millenials that see less than nothing for them in the status quo. Is it fascist? Certainly my good Russian friend (15 years older than me) who is no fascist but knows one when he sees one, would identify with much of this and others have eviscerated the reaction of liberals who have turned out to be the very opposite of "liberal". One does have to wonder what would happen if some of these cosseted people were to encounter a real nazi. The usual response is that people like Trump and Yannopoulos are practising "dog whistle politics" inviting white supremacists to come out of the woodwork. Whilst I know that there have been terrible, but isolated cases of racist and hate attacks, watching the events of recent weeks and months, most of the violence and mindless activity has come from liberals, feminists and other dupes of George Soros and the ruling class. Watch the video. While there are some very angry 'anti' voices in the audience who were invited to leave the talk I did not see any over-the-top, violent response from the audience. I suspect Milo Yannopulos is far too bright for the gun-toting hillbillies. And what would they make of an openly-gay conservative (or is he a libertarian?) who is proud of his many black boyfriends? What I can see, however is that he stands at the head of a revolution that is dangerous to the 1% and the political Establishement. Because of what I know of the direction of current human history I know that ideas of "making the USA great again" etc are sheer delusion and the revolution, like all others that have gone before, have failed and produced their own Robespierre or Stalin. All I can say is, get out the popcorn and watch, and live life to the full while you still can. And don't be fooled by the corporate media echo chamber.
Sometimes it is good to see what he says in response to media pushback - in this case the BBC
In
what will undoubtedly be viewed as just another attempt to censor
dissenting, conservative political views, Reddit has banned three
major ‘alt-right’ subreddits, /r/altright, /r/rightyfriends and
/r/alternativeright, this evening for allegedly breaching the
company’s content policy restricting the sharing of personal,
private information. The so-called ‘Alt-right’ group had
roughly 16,000 followers and grew in popularity last summer along
with the rise of Donald Trump's political campaign.
While
Reddit hasn't yet issued a formal statement on the ban, the following
comments were offered up to The
Daily Beast:
“Reddit
is the proud home to some of the most authentic conversations
online,” a
statement provided to The Daily Beast by the company read. “We
strive to be a welcoming, open platform for all by trusting our users
to maintain an environment that cultivates genuine conversation and
adheres to our content policy.”
“We
are very clear in our site terms of service that posting of personal
information can get users banned from Reddit and we ask our
communities not to post content that harasses or invites harassment.
We have banned r/altright due to repeated violations of the terms of
our content policy. There
is no single solution to these issues and we are actively engaging
with the Reddit community to improve everyone's experience.”
A
senior moderator of the atlright subreddit, who referred to himself
as Bill Simpson, told The Daily Beast that the forum was“banned
without notification or justification” and
insisted that moderators "enforced
stricter standards of behavior than reddit requires."
“So
much for leftist tolerance. Our
moderator team enforced stricter standards of behavior than reddit
requires, and our users were very prompt at reporting violations so
we could ban violators and delete posts and comments that broke the
rules,” he added.
Additionally,
Simpson claimed that the subreddit was banned because of its recent
“record monthly traffic.”
“It's
clear that Reddit banned us because we were becoming very popular and
spreading inconvenient truths about who's ruining our country and
robbing our children of a future,” Simpson said.
The
announcement of the ban came just days after Reddit founder Alexis
Ohanian penned an open letter trashing
Trump's immigration ban, calling it "not
only potentially unconstitutional, but deeply un-American."
After
two weeks abroad, I
was looking forward to returning to the U.S. this weekend, but
as I got off the plane at LAX on Sunday, I wasn't sure what country I
was coming back to.
President
Trump’s recent executive order is not only potentially
unconstitutional, but deeply un-American. We
are a nation of immigrants, after all. In the tech world, we often
talk about a startup’s “unfair advantage” that allows it to
beat competitors. Welcoming immigrants and refugees has been our
country's unfair advantage, and coming from an immigrant family has
been mine as an entrepreneur.
Of
course, all of this comes after Reddit CEO, Steve Huffman, admitted
two months ago to editing individual posts made by Trump supporters
that were critical of him. Per the apology below, Huffman
edited posts to redirect criticism away from him and onto the
moderators of the "r/the_donald" thread.
Free
speech is a wonderful thing, provided it conforms to the prevailing
political views of Silicon Valley's elitist tech billionaires.
Berkeley
Blowback: Milo Book Sales Soar 12,740% Overnight
Following
the violent
anti-free-speech protests in Berkeley, California last night -
sparked by cal's special snowflakes hurt feelings at the potential
words that would come out of Milo Yiannopoulos' mouth during a
sold-out event - it appears America's curiousity has been piqued.
Sales
of Milo's book have increased 12,740% overnight sending
it rocketing from 642nd to 5th ranked best-seller on Amazon. Pretty
impressive considering the
book is not even released until March 14th 2017.
So
despite all the best efforts of the liberal intelligentsia to shut
down his 'free-speech' last night - hurting
the feelings of 600 conservatives who were looking forward to the
event - we
suspect a lot more than 600 Americans are now about to get a crash
course in how Milo thinks.

Tucker Carlson Milo Yiannopoulos FULL Interview After Berkeley Riots Cancelled Speech - 2/2/17
Right
now I’m wondering who the violent fascists are. Yannopoulos is provocative in his views - anti-immigation and anti-Muslim but I've yet to be shown that he is a nazi.
I
am largely in agreement with these sentiments of Vladimir Golstein,a
Russian Jew:
“Back
in the day, Nazis would march, intimidate, and torch Jewish
businesses. Things changed, of course. Somewhat.
“Now
they study at Berkeley, and pretend to fight fascists by the same
Nazi methods. Like setting cars on fire, closing the place down, and
shutting down the free speech. At least Germans Nazis knew deep
inside that all they want is loot and rob and kill and rape. But
today's zealots would never acknowledge it. They use violence and
intimidation for noble purposes only. It would not hurt for these
guys to learn something about the Stanford experiment. It happened not
far from Berkeley, you know.
“Of
course, LA Times is full of sh.t as usual. Milo is a libertarian, not
a conservative firebrand, as they characterize him, to implicitly
condone the a...holes at Berkeley.”
Riot
breaks out at UC Berkeley amid protest of Breitbart editor's speech
(VIDEO)
A
protest turned violent at the University of California at Berkeley,
resulting in the cancellation of a talk from conservative provocateur
Milo Yiannopoulos.
Yiannopoulos,
an editor of Breitbart News, was expected speak against “sanctuary
campuses,” which promised to protect undocumented students in wake
of President Donald Trump's tough stance on illegal immigration.
In
response to the violence, UC Berkeley Police have warned students to
"leave the area immediately," as they are bringing in
"additional resources."
Hours
after a lockdown was declared across campus by police, many orders of
dispersal, including several five-minute warnings went largely
ignored.
Once
those backup forces arrived, police used a bullhorn to warn
protesters they would be subject to force, "including but not
limited to chemical agents, batons and less lethal munitions."
KTVU
reported that there were no police present when the riots began.
College Republicans paid a mandatory security fee but are now asking
what good it did.
Around
8:00pm local time, protesters moved off campus, onto surrounding
streets including Telegraph Avenue.
Rioters
attempting to block traffic did not appear to stop a white BMW that
sped off with at least one person still clinging to the vehicle. The
unruly crowd then chased the car down the street, but Michael Bodley
of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that a different, unrelated
driver was then attacked with pepper-spray while his vehicle was
struck with stakes. "It was a white car," Bodley reported
someone yelling.
A
female Trump supporter was attacked with pepper-spray by a rioter
during an interview with local TV media. Others were struck with flag
poles hoisted by black-clad anarchists.
Another
woman was seen being hit with a black flag and pole before being
pepper-sprayed.
A
rioter dressed in black was captured on video reportedly striking an
attendee in the head with a bike lock.
There
were also reports of punching, as well as fireworks thrown and a tree
being set on fire.
Just
toppled a light pole. Craziest protest I've seen in Berkeley by far.
Crowd fast turning violent.
Hundreds
of protesters, some covered in masks, also broke windows and pulled
down metal barricades that police set up, the San Francisco Chronicle
reported.
There
are reports of outbreaks of physical violence and rioters attempting
to surround attendees, whom they deemed "fascists."
Berkeley
Police reported their officers were targeted with projectiles,
including bricks and smoking objects. The university's police locked
down campus buildings and ordered the public to shelter in place.
Tear
gas was deployed after many calls from police for the crowd to
disperse or face arrest for unlawful assembly. There were several
five-minute warnings proclaimed from police PA systems.
"We
condemn in the strongest possible terms the violence and unlawful
behavior that was on display and deeply regret that those tactics
will now overshadow the efforts to engage in legitimate and lawful
protest against the performer’s presence and perspectives," UC
Berkeley's Public Affairs office said in response to the riots.
Students
were not the only ones to have objected to Yiannopoulos event at the
university.
After
the editor accepted the invitation, a group of faculty members urged
Chancellor Nicholas Dirks to cancel the event. More than 100 Berkeley
faculty blamed the editor for provoking “incitement, harassment,
and defamation.”
“Although
we object strenuously to Yiannopoulos’s views — he advocates
white supremacy, transphobia, and misogyny — it is rather his
harmful conduct to which we call attention in asking for the
cancellation of this event,” read the first of two letters from
faculty members.
The
College Republicans issued a statement, saying, "The Free Speech
Movement is dead. Today, the Berkeley College Republicans'
constitutional right to free speech was silenced by criminals and
thugs seeking to cancel Milo Yiannopoulos' tour. Their success is a
defeat for civilized society and the free exchange of ideas on
college campuses across America. We would like to thank UCPD and the
university administration for doing all they could to ensure the
safety of everyone involved. It is tragic that the birthplace of the
Free Speech Movement is also its final resting place." From CNN
