Typhoon Goni kills 14 in Philippines, 33,000 evacuated



Philippine death toll from Typhoon Goni has increased to 14. Nearly 33,000 individuals from over 7,500 families have been evacuated in five regions in northern Philippines. The country’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council estimates that the cost of damage to infrastructure and agriculture has reached over 2.7 million US dollars

The calendar may indicate that the end of summer is nigh, but signs of winter have come a little too early as far as the people of Alberta are concerned.

A cool airmass has settled over parts of western Canada, behind a passing low that is bringing active weather to the Prairies through the weekend.

Several Luzon provinces are reeling from the destruction caused by Typhoon Ineng, with Ilocos Norte and Cagayan among the hardest hit.

Yellowstone is not being evacuated and no, the supervolcano is not erupting. That is the message from park officials about a rumor prompting calls from people and media all over the country.

Yellowstone Park Spokesman Al Nash says the rumor came from a website called Civic Tribune. He says no one has heard of the one-page website until now.
