Three powerful earthquakes of magnitude 6.8, 6.6 and 6.5 have struck west of the Canadian province of British Columbia on Monday, the United States Geological Survey said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the major quakes, which hit at a depth of 33 km (21 miles) about 190 km (117 miles) southwest of Port Hardy, a town on the northeast end of Vancouver Island.

There was no immediate tsunami warning.

Solar wind flowing from a large coronal hole on our Sun could reach Earth's magnetic field on Oct. 24th and is known to influence quake activity here on our planet.

This morning's quakes bring the total to 12 major quakes this month and the 100th of 2018.
