KIEV,
Ukraine – Martial Law in parts of the regions of Ukraine will take
effect from the moment the law passed by the Verkhovna Rada comes
into force on the eve. About this on Tuesday, November 27, said
Parliament Speaker Andrei Paruby.
There
is now presently a controversy surrounding the start date.
“Martial
law is introduced and valid from the moment of signing by the
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the President of
Ukraine. While this document is not signed by me, the president and
not published in the “Voice of Ukraine ”, the law does not apply.
That is, although the decree states 14:00 on the 26th, it will
actually become law when it is signed and published, ”the speaker
said.
Paruby
also said that he intends to sign this law in the morning of November
28. According to him, the law will come into force during the day.
“I think it will most likely be tomorrow during the day. I think that the president will also sign very promptly … From that moment, any actions are carried out, ”he added.
Recall,
the Verkhovna Rada of 26 November adopted a law approving the
Presidential Decree “On the introduction of martial law in
Ukraine “. The decision was supported by 276 deputies.
According
to the decree, which is published on the president’s website,
martial law in Ukraine is introduced for a period of 30 days from
14:00 on November 26th. The first present, and minor dispute,
revolves around whether this begins on the 26th or 28th.
However,
many further and greater disputes surrounding the treatment of
opposition parties are what’s really expected.
