The
astronomer says Mars. He'll have to have a better explanation. Mars,
in the night sky, is a stationary object and not moving like these
objects.
UFO:
Sri Lankans panic over alien-like activity
20
December, 2012
Media
and mainstream science agencies may tell us that UFOs or aliens do
not exist, and we are all alone in the universe. However, at times
the people at large encounter such activities which make them believe
that UFOs are real, and we are not alone in the universe. One such
incident has occurred in the island nation of Sri Lanka.
According
to a report published in Emirates 24/7, people in Sri Lanka have been
traumatized by large scale UFO sightings. The report gives us an
idea of what the people in the country have been going through. It
states,
“Residents
in several parts of Sri Lanka are counting their stars after being
dazzled by lights emanating from unidentified objects flying in the
sky.”
The
report also mentions the reaction of the Sri Lankan Air Force to
these sightings.
“The
Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) moved to allay fears that aliens from
outer space were hovering in the country's air space. SLAF media
spokesperson Wing Commander Shiras Jalaldeen said that no
unidentified airborne craft had been picked up on radar as yet, The
Island reported.”
Mr.
Jalaldeen went on to say that these claims of UFO sightings cannot be
confirmed.
“In
the wake of unconfirmed claims that Unidentified Flying Objects being
slighted by people in several parts of the country, Jalaldeen said
there was no clear evidence to confirm such rumours.”
However,
a local TV channel called Newsfirst has shown video reports and
images of these sightings. The channel claimed that those
unidentified lights were first witnessed in the skies above
Hambegamuwa in Thanamalwila in the Eastern province of the country,
at around 8.30 PM on the 10th of December, 2012.
Several
witnesses across the country have recorded such sightings of their
mobile phones, and have also posted these videos on YouTube and other
video sharing sites.
Shiras
Jalaldeen, the media spokesperson of SLAF, tells us how these reports
are only rumours and says,
“An
astronomer and a professor in astronomy at the Colombo University,
Chandana Jayaratne had reportedly dismissed such claims by pointing
out that those lights seen by the people had emanated from Mars as a
result of it orbiting closer to the earth.”
Regardless
of what the Sri Lankan Air Force says, the people do not seem to buy
these official explanations. They are quite frightened by these
sightings and are not sure about the actual nature of these lights.
Officer
Claims UFO Sighting

A
police officer has claimed he saw a UFO moving at supersonic speed
while driving off-duty near Birmingham airport.
The
PC reportedly spotted the UFO near Birmingham airport.
The
unnamed officer, an acting sergeant with West Midlands police, saw a
‘light with a bluish tinge’ that ‘pulsed rhythmically’ and
zoomed off.
A
colleague called air traffic control, but workers there said they had
seen nothing.
The
officer later told his story to a UFO fan who posted it on the
Haunted Skies website.
‘I
noticed a light in the sky which was pulsing rhythmically. It was
very bright and had a bluish tinge to it,’ the website reported the
officer as saying.
‘I
thought at first that it was a plane. Then I realised, as it was only
a single light, this was not likely to be the case.
‘Besides,
I had never seen an aircraft in that part of the sky.’
West
Midlands police said the force was aware of the incident but that
‘the officer had been off-duty on the night in question and he did
not report anything officially to the control room’.
UFO
expert Nick Pope, who previously investigated alleged alien sightings
for the Ministry of Defence, told Birmingham’s Sunday Mercury:
‘This could be the real thing – a UFO in our airspace and
military aircraft scrambled to intercept.’
