Freak hailstorm in the middle of the Australian desert

No,this is not Siberia.

Of all the weird weather round the world this took first prize today.

A river of ice in Alice Springs

Freak hailstorm in Alice Springs has become a river of ice, nearly coming up the steps of the caama building!

For those of you who don't know Alice Springs is in the middle desert and is the geographic centre of Australia


Tourists stranded as outback SA towns cut off by floodwaters



Dozens of people are stranded in towns across South Australia's outback where heavy rain has closed major roads.


Up to 35 millimetres of rain fell in some parts, with the Oodnadatta Track 

closed between William Creek and Marree and from Oodnadatta to William Creek and Coober Pedy.
