Arctic Warming

The disappearing Arctic sea ice

Please test this out on your local climate scientist.

Show them this graph and as them where it will cross zero if the trend holds up.

Your 6 year old kid would answer this question immediately but the more esteemed and higher the so called "expertise" of the scientist the more convoluted the answer will be.

They will be extremely reluctant to commit to the obvious answer that we all know from common sense.

Global Warming Fact of the Day

This is a message from Paul regarding interaction with the Facebook group, Global Warming Fact of the Day.

I have had my own run-in with them and been banned from their site twice.

Last night I had frustrating exchanges with people on GWFOTD (Global warming fact of the day). What really annoyed me (which is very rare for me) is their comparison of AMEG (Arctic Methane Emergency Group) to one of the worst denial groups out there WUWT (Whats up with that). They pinned a post which attacks AMEG and the so called facts in the post are factually incorrect on many fronts, which I am discussing with other AMEG members at the moment. I posted this comment at GWFOTD just now:

"I am not going to repeat any of the arguments from last night. This will be my only post here tonight. However I do want to thank the moderators for providing me with new insights as to why the peer-reviewed process of science in the climate change field has thus far failed humanity. If scientists do not step out of their comfort zones and take a more vocal stand they face the risk of becoming irrelevant to society as the rapid ramping up of extreme weather events, food shortages, and global turmoil sweeps all logic and rationality aside. In Canada and Australia this lack of scientific rationality is already well under way for other reasons, with massive scientific library closures and layoffs of thousands of government scientists. For reasons of tar sands development and mining, respectively. I expect opposition from climate change deniers, however I did not expect such lack of imagination and foresight and logic from this community. I think that many readers are cowed by the actions of the moderators here. That being said, this site is great for information gathering and the pluses far outweigh any negatives."
