The Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Christchurch Mosque Shootings descended even further into non-transparency last night when it issued a minute:

“(b) Under section 15(1)(a)(i) of the Act, but subject to further order of the Royal Commission, prohibiting publication of all evidence or submissions to the Royal Commission by the agencies referred to in the Schedule.
c) Under section 15(1)(b) of the Act, but subject to further order of the Royal Commission, that public access shall not be given to any of the material referred to in order 3.b) above or to correspondence passing between the Royal Commission and those agencies.”

The schedule of agencies silenced includes the Pike River Recovery Agency, Callaghan Innovation, Health Promotion Agency, the Earthquake Commission, Antarctica NZ,Sport NZ, the NZ Symphony Orchestra, Plant and Food Research, TVNZ, universities, district health boards and institutes of technology, wananga, Fish and Game, Pacific Business Trust, Mighty River Power, Māori TV, and Kiwirail.
