CCP’s infiltration into foreign 

medical companies

In December 2020, a list of nearly 2 million Chinese Communist Party (CCP) 

members in Shanghai was cast under the limelight. This leaked database became 

a hot topic with countless discussions on the internet. The database and 

equivalent CSV or excel files were available publicly online, which were then down

loaded by many curious netizens.

In the last two months, I published two articles to showcase my analytical findings, which focused on CCP’s infiltration into foreign banks and IT companies (you can 

find the links of both articles at the bottom).

In this third article of the series, I will showcase more results from my data 

analysis. This time we are looking at foreign companies in the Medical sector, 

including medical equipment manufacturers and drug developers.

As reported in the past articles, I have downloaded two excel files and then 

transfer them into the CSV files to be processed using Python programming. The 

first file contains 1,048,576 rows of data, and the second file contains 908,663 

rows of data. This aligned with the number of the CCP members on the database 

as reported by various news outlet.

I have found several ranking lists of the world’s largest medical companies. I used 

the top 10 or top 20 among these firms as the references when I searched in the 

database with keywords. If the company shown in the list is not mentioned in this 

article, it means that the author fails to find the company name on the CCP 

members’ data.

Firstly, let’s look at the summarized numbers of the CCP members based on 

companies:

Among all large medical companies found in the database, Siemens wins first 

place in terms of the number of CCP members hired, with nearly 700 CCP 

members. This figure is likely to be underestimated because we only focus on the head office and its medical sector in China. There are approximately 200 CCP

 members in the communication, switch, and automation sector of Siemens.

After Siemens, we have Roche from Switzerland, Johnson & Johnson, and 3M 

Company from the US. The number of CCP members employed by these 

companies are quite similar, ranging from 250 to 270.

The CCP virus vaccine producer, such as Pfizer and AstraZeneca, are also on 

the list. Both companies have a similar number of CCP members employed. Pfizer has 69 CCP members, while AstraZeneca has 54 CCP members. According to 

DEUTSCHE WELLE, both companies’ CCP virus vaccines were nominated as the world’s top 10 leading vaccine programs.

Now let’s look at the number of CCP branches：

In terms of the number of CCP branches, Philips is in second place after Siemens, with 9 CCP branches, three fewer than the number of CCP branches associated 

with Siemens. If we read the data carefully, we can find that the CCP branches 

in Philips are named by the series number of the building. For example, there are 2 CCP branches called Philips Building #1 and 4 CCP branches named Philips 

Building #2.

The vaccine provider Pfizer has 4 CCP branches, while AstraZeneca has only one

 CCP branch. 3M Company and Johnson & Johnson have more than 5 CCP 

branches, which is not surprising considering their numbers of CCP members.

An overall tabulation of my results is shown below. I welcome any comments or
