The coronavirus lockdown and the aerosol masking effect

Is Guy McPherson winding back his aerosol masking effect theory?

I must still be sensitive after my experiences with Guy McPherson and his coterie from last year and early this year because it has taken me 36 hours to even listen to a video that was pointed out to me by a friend.

Much of the discussion was quite reasonable but it was this segment at the

beginning of the video that caught my attention.

Listen to this next segment and it will become clear that he thought that with the
end of industrial activity (and somewhere he has said that a 30% reduction was
sufficient) and the end of global dimming would lead to an increase in
global temperatures within days.

This is a representation from Arctic News:

The theory contends a change of 2.5C.

Now he appears to be winding all of that back by contending that the changes are not immediate and are mediated by plants (ie. the resulting loss of habitat) so would take some time to become apparent.

He is also advocating for a piecemeal shutdown of the world's industrial activity.

Well, what is the reality?

It seems to me that although China has ostensibly finished its lockdown and is trying to restart its economy the rest of the world is under lockdown at the same time.

America is under lockdown, large parts of Europe are under lockdown, Russia is under lockdown, India is under lockdown.

That, my friends, is for all intents and purposes the entirety of the industrialised world.

Aerosols are (or have) fallen out of the sky which is borne out by the headlines in recent days and the following photos:

McPherson contended that there was a localised increase in temperatures in China without citing any evidence to back that up (when has he ever spoken without citing articles or papers in the past?) just as he contends that France saw an increase in temperatures after moving from coal to nuclear, something that is new to me and which I would like to see evidence of.

Since being forced to go my own way I have come to see that the idea of rapid temperature increases as a result of the end of global dimming is a THEORY (albeit one which has my support).

Now, we a have a sudden shutdown of industrial activity in most of the world we have a perfect laboratory to test whether that theory is correct or not.

If we do not see the sorts of temperature increases he is talking about I wonder what is Prof.McPherson going to say next?

Here is the video discussion in full:

  2. Here in Florida temperatures are for this time of the year "Off the Charts" If this trend continues this coming summer will be simply unbearable, plus when the storms hit the super hot water of the Caribbean it will turn hurricanes into Mega storms... Things are looling uglier by the day....
