5 % of the Australian population is homeless

The population of Australia is 23 million. That translates to 5% of the population homeless


There are over 1.2m 

homeless Australians and 

the numbers are still rising

More than 1.2 million Australians have been helped by homelessness services in the last eight years.

It's a frightening statistic but what's even more worrying is that the numbers are still going up.

And the researchers who have brought the data together say it highlights the urgent need for more social housing.
