Arctic sea ice report - 15 October, 2019

One month after the end of 

the melt season we are back 

to record low sea ice extent – 

never mind the 
other indicators!

After showing for two months that 2019 was "unexceptional" for sea ice coverage we are now back to record low levels.

People have denied the contention that the ice is not really refreezing how one would EXPECT, but contrary evidence is here.

Sea ice is very thin as shown in these representations. It has been that way for the past several years (see the video).

Despite the sun disappearing from the High Arctic there are large areas of ice melt. Note the areas of what looks to be an algal bloom. We saw this last year as well.

The seas surrounding the ice continue to be anomolously warm as they were during summer.
