A brief update on the Arctic melt - 6 September, 2019

ARCTIC UPDATE - Where is

the refreeze they are talking

about?

The sun is still shining at the North Pole, although very low in the sky.

Despite that I can find no signs of a refreeze or of the sea ice extent they are talking about if we talk in terms of what is actually there

This is the situation as the National Snow and Ice Data Center report it based on 15% ice.

I have done a rough markup of this data from Climate Reanalyzer to show another version taking into consideration the volume, concentration and state of the ice.

The following representation of ice thickness 1 month apart shows there has been no refreeze and little slowdown in melting.
Sea ice thickness: 21 August (left) and 05 September (right)
