MASSIVE denial of what is happening in Siberia from Russian government and media

The latest from the Siberian fires – a tragedy for Russia and for the planet.

I usually reserve this function for our NZ media and western media in general.

This time it is the English-language Russian media that is absolutely missing-in action

A few days ago I referenced a Twitter hashtag

#SaveOurRussian Forests

The last entries were on 28 and 28 July. Either the locals are  deliriously happy at the news of a State of Emergency or they are being BLOCKED on Twitter.

I came across a pathetic video from RUPTLY so decided to have a look.

This was the result.

This piece was all I could find and is a pretty pathetic piece of propaganda with the whole response from Russian officialdom, from corrupt officials to the Kremlin..

Military aircraft take off from Krasnoyarsk to fight Siberia forest fires

I decided to have a look at "RT, Krasnoyarsk, wildfires, Siberia" for the past 24 hours.

Nothing!

The latest coverage goes back to 30 July.

Nothing, even about a State of Emergency being being declared.

And then there is this.

PM Medvedev, who has made himself rich through his association with Europe's largest pulp and paper company, visits Chita and after asking why there is so much smoke (to which the response is it is "coming from our neighbours" he inspects a row of firefighting equipment that is sitting on the ground.

That is hardly like to instill any confidence.

Where is Putin?

You don't need any Russian to see what is going on here (and what is NOT)..

If I had to hazard a guess I would say there is DENIAL on an astronomical scale and NO ONE knows how to respond - so they don't - or close to it.

  1. Good analysis.

Any idea about US-Irna conflict? Will it really happen in this month? I have a gut feeling that I should start buying gold now.

What are your thoughts on this?
