In a televised speech on Monday before the funeral of the victims in Ahvaz, Salami blasted the United States and Israel over the deadly attack.
"You have seen our revenge before… You will see that our response will be crushing and devastating and you will regret what you have done," Hossein Salami said.
Iran's intelligence minister said a "large" network of suspects have been arrested in relation to the attack on the military parade, according to Mizan News Agency.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards reportedly promised "deadly and unforgettable" retaliation against attackers at a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz on September 23.

On Saturday, armed terrorists opened fire at a military parade, leaving at least 28 people dead and injuring another 60, according to media reports.
Following the incident, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused the US-backed states of the region of being responsible for the terrorist attack.

The attack in the Iranian city of Ahvaz occurred on Saturday morning. During the military parade, unknown assailants opened fire, killing dozens of people including 12 Islamic Revolutionary Guards. Several Iranian top officials have blamed foreign-sponsored terrorists for the incident.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards has vowed to take "deadly and unforgettable" vengeance against attackers at a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz, Reuters reports citing Iranian media.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during separate phone calls with Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and governor of the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan after the attack also vowed a "crushing" response to the slightest threat against the country, Press TV reports.

On Saturday, armed militants opened fire at a military parade, leaving at least 28 people killed and injuring another 60, according to media reports. The Saudi-linked Patriotic Arab Democratic Movement in Ahvaz has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

Following the incident, Iranian Armed Forces spokesman, Brig. Gen. Abolfazl Shekarchi, said that the militants were linked to the United States and Israel. His opinion was echoed by Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif who accused "regional terror sponsors and their US masters" of organizing the attack.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also voiced his concerns saying that the tragic incident "at the hands of the mercenary terrorists has once again exposed the atrocity and viciousness of the enemies of the Iranian nation … Their crime is a continuation of the conspiracies by the US-backed regimes in the region which have aimed at creating insecurity in our dear country."

BREAKING: TERRORIST ATTACK IN IRAN – MEK RESPONSIBLE?
The attack happens during a military parade in Ahvaz

PRESS TV REPORTS THE FOLLOWING
Ten people were killed and at least 20 others injured in a terrorist attack on a military parade in Iran’s southern city of Ahvaz on Saturday, a provincial governor said.
Gunmen opened fire on people from behind a viewing stand at Qods Boulevard of Ahvaz during the morning parade held to mark the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Iran in the 1980s.
Individuals disguised in the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and Basij uniforms fired at officials and people from behind the stand, leaving a number of innocent people including women and children martyred or injured,” Governor of Khuzestan Province Gholamreza Shariati said.
So far, the martyrdom of 10 people has been verified in this subversive and blind attack,” Deputy Governor of Khuzestan Province Ali Hossein Hosseinzadeh told the official IRNA news agency.
More than 20 people were injured in the incident, and it is possible that the number of the martyrs will rise due to the severity of injuries,” he added.
The attackers began firing at spectators from a park as the parade got underway, trying to force their way into the stand but were confronted by security forces.
Despite the intensity of the attack on the stand of the officials, none of them was hurt thanks to the rapid reaction of the security forces, Shariati said.
The terrorist team behind the attack was dismantled, he said, adding the situation is now under the control of security forces and police and calm has returned to the region.
According to preliminary reports, four attackers were involved, two of whom were killed and two arrested, one of them injured,” Shariati said.

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) spokesman Ramezan Sharif said the attackers were affiliated to a terrorist group supported by Saudi Arabia.

The individuals who fired at the people and the armed forces during the parade are connected to the al-Ahvaziya group which is fed by Saudi Arabia,” he said.

Sharif said the shooting is not unprecedented and the group which is also supported by the UK has attacked convoys of those visiting the former frontlines in Saddam’s war on Iran in recent years.

The Fars news agency said citizens watching the parade first thought that the shooting was inadvertent. “After several people were injured, they realized it is a terrorist attack,” it said.

Sharif said people had been invited to the ceremony and the terrorists targeted both the people and the armed forces in the attack. “The attack aimed to overshadow the magnificence of the parade by the armed forces,” he said.

Similar parades were held in other cities across Iran, including Tehran where President Hassan Rouhani said the US administration will suffer the same fate as Saddam.

These blind and subversive acts will not have any effect on the resolve and will of the people and their spirit of resistance, but will unite all the people and authorities in confronting the conspiracies of the enemies,” Hosseinzadeh said.

The attack comes after a US-backed campaign to stir up unrest in Iranian cities fell flat. The effort, known as the Hot Summer Project, sought to whip up public anger over water and electricity shortages in the face of a protracted drought.

Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, asserted that Tehran is responsible for violent unrest within its borders, as well as across the Middle East.

While the administration of US President Donald Trump previously stated that America condemns “any terrorist attack,” the US ambassador to the UN noted during CNN’s State of the Union program on Sunday that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani should look at his own government for causes of the attack.
He's got the Iranian people […] protesting, every ounce of money that goes into Iran goes into his military, he has oppressed his people for a long time and he needs to look at his own base to figure out where that's coming from,” said Haley. “The thing he's got to do is look in the mirror,” she added, cited by the BBC.
Haley’s comments came one day after four gunmen attacked a Revolutionary Guard military parade in the Iranian city of Ahvaz, killing 25, including soldiers and civilians. An anti-government Arab group — Ahvaz National Resistance — and Daesh* claimed responsibility for the brutal killings.
On Sunday, before a flight to a UN session in New York City, Iranian President Rouhani declared that Iran would “not let this crime stand.”

It is absolutely clear to us who committed this crime […] and whom they are linked to,” Rouhani said, adding that, “the small puppet countries in the region are backed by America, and the US is provoking them and giving them the necessary capabilities,” cited by Washington Post.
Rouhani did not specifically mention which countries were the “puppet” nations he was referring to, but Iran has accused US-backed states of being behind the attack. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei posted to his website that the attack came as part of a “continuation of the conspiracies by the US-backed regimes in the region which have aimed at creating insecurity in our dear country.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif accused "regional terror sponsors and their US masters" of organizing the attack, also noting that Tehran would respond “swiftly and decisively.” On Saturday, Iran summoned diplomats from the UK, the Netherlands, and Denmark, accusing these countries of hosting Iranian opposition groups within their borders.

The Trump administration previously expressed support for Iranians “against the scourge of radical Islamic terrorism and express our sympathy to them at this terrible time,” according to US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, cited by Sputnik.
Iranian President Rouhani was reported to have planned to meet with Trump at the UN General Assembly in New York, however, the meeting was cancelled without explanation on Sunday by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
*Daesh (also known as ISIS/ISIL/IS) is a terrorist group, banned in Russia, US and many other countries.
