IDF: Iran assembling Air Forces in Syria for Retaliatory Attack on Israel

Tuesday, 17 April -- Israeli Defense Force (IDF) sources said to confirm Iran has established air forces in Syria and are planning retaliatory attacks in Israel.

ISRAEL INFORMING IRAN THROUGH BACKCHANNELS THEY FACE OVERWHELMING CRUSHING RESPONSE IF THEY ACT.

IDF are briefing journalists now that they are aware of major strikes being planned by Iran, targeting cities in Israel.

There were indeed 3 strikes the other night that were attempted to be covered up, including that ammunition depot.

So it seems we have had 2 consecutive nights of Israeli strikes (yes ALL were Israel)

I am now in a position to confirm.

You know what this means: if the IDF thinks Iranian strikes are imminent they are not going to sit and wait on explosions in their cities.

They will pre-empt and pre-empt heavily!

They have done it in the past...

• 6 day war, Israel preempted the Egyptian air force...
• 7th June Operation Opera/Babylon Israel preempted Iraqi nuclear facility...
• 6th September 2007, Operation Orchard Israel bombs Syrian nuclear facility...
• The strikes on Hezbollah and Iranian positions are for the same reason, Iranian arms sophisticated hardware passing through Syria to Hezbollah to be stored in Lebanon.

If in a corner or they feel under threat credible threat, they will strike.

5:52 AM EDT -- the IDF are indeed briefing that they have news of attack plans from Iran with targeted strikes on Israeli cities. This is indeed from senior IDF people, so Israel really believes this.

On Monday, Naim Qassem, deputy chief of Hezbollah – an ally and proxy of Tehran – warned that Iran would respond to an air strike on the T-4 airbase in Syria which was attributed to Israel and in which seven Iranian personnel were killed.

"The elimination of the Iranians by Israel at the airbase will be met with a response,” Qassem told Al-Mayadeen TV

EDITOR'S NOTE: This war is not about Syria .... It's about Iran, but they needed an excuse to start it, and staged a false chemical attack in Syria. Israel continues to stir shit in the region, and I will be amazed if Israel is not turned into a glass parking lot within the next few days.  If I lived in Israel, I'd be heading off to a country where I have 'dual citizenship.' BTW, if the Iranians really are working on a nuclear bomb, they'd better get it done fast; the Israelis are a terribly paranoid people and they will not hesitate to Nuke Tehran if they believe they are cornered. Saddam Hussein had Iran pinned in where Iran could not move west toward Israel. Then Israel insisted that the U.S. take Saddam Hussein out. This pushed Iraq into the arms of Iran. So this whole mess can be laid at the door of Israel. They asked for it and now their crocodile tears fall on my deaf ears. They asked for this mess and so let them deal with it.

UPDATE 9:38 AM EDT -- ISRAEL BRIEFING MILITARY JOURNALISTS RIGHT NOW ON LOCATION OF IRANIAN UAV BASES AND FORCE DISPOSITION, SAYING THEY WILL NOT LET THE SITUATION STAND They're saying they're expecting an attack on Thursday being their independence day.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan in a phone call on Tuesday that all countries should be sensitive about any "illegal" intervention in region.

2:15 PM EDT -- TOP PILOT: ISRAEL 'CAPABLE' OF STRIKING IRAN IF ORDERS GIVEN.  israel is fully capable of striking Iran, a former Israeli Air Force pilot – who took part in the military strike against Iraq’s nuclear reactor in 1981 – told The Jerusalem Post, amid saber rattling by the two archenemies.

“If the decision is taken by the political echelon, the air force pilots and planes are capable of doing it,” Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Amir Nachumi said. “The attack against the Syrian reactor [in Deir al-Zor in 2007] is just one proof of that.”

An unusual IDF communique Tuesday, April 17, divulged details of Iran’s UAV bases in Syria and named their commanders, while the threats traded between them gained volume. These disclosures and their tone stood in marked contrast to the Israeli government and security chiefs’ strange silence and passive acquiescence to Tehran’s steady buildup of its military assets in Syria during the past two years. The information now released, much of it available to DEBKA’s readers in the past, attests to the growing conviction among Israel’s strategic leaders that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) are on the point of a military operation to punish Israel for its April 9 air attack on the SyrianT-4 airbase, which left eight IRGC aerospace officers dead, including Col. Mehdi Dehgan Yazdeli. 

The IDF is finally leveling on the threat so as to prepare the Israeli public for what looks like an inevitable military clash with Iran.

A leak to the New York Times and Israeli media on Monday incorrectly defined the T-4 strike as Israel’s first live attack on Iranian commanders. In fact, the Israeli air force struck a group of Iranian commanders on a secret visit to Quneitra opposite Israel’s Golan border on Jan. 18, 2015, killing two Iranian generals, Mohammad Ali Allah Dadi and Abu Ali al-Tabtabani. And in the following year, on July 26, an Israeli rocket attack aimed at and missed another secret visitor to Quneitra, Iranian Gen. Mohammad-Reza Naghdi.

• Al Qods chief Gen. Qassem Soleimani is leading the preparations for the first direct Iranian assault on Israel, not just by proxy. Soleimani is the overall commander of Iran’s Middle East warfronts.
