Floods in North Island New Zealand

This report manages to mention 2 words - CLIMATE CHANGE!!!

State of emergency declared in Whanganui District

People in Whanganui are being told to brace themselves for flooding that authorities fear will be worse than that in 2015, as the remnants of ex-Cyclone Debbie hit New Zealand.

A state of emergency has been declared in the district, and in nearby Rangitikei.
Heavy rain warnings are in place for much of the central North Island, including Gisborne, Coromandel, Hawke's Bay and Taranaki, as well as Auckland and Wairarapa.

Some roads and seven schools in the North Island have been closed.
