My interview, ‘Embracing Abrupt Climate Change, with a Humanitarian Spirit‘ with Nick of Relief Analysis, was an amazing experience of and a great meeting of minds.  It was gigantic. So much came out of it.

He was called to my attention weeks ago, since he had not only done such a fantastically good job interviewing Professor Paul Beckwith, but followed up with spotless writingand launching his venue further at SoundCloud.  Being smart is one thing.  Best nice is another.  Being broad is a third.  He is all three.  The entire package.

Besides being a professional governmental person engaged in the planning, formulation, and communication about Disaster and Disaster Recovery, he has an ample multi-cultural background.  His mother is Turkish while living and sounding like any other ‘normal American’ person with both sides.  There is more.  His wife is from Vietnam.  And you can be sure that we had PLENTY TO talk about.
I am deeply honored to be his second interview.  There will be others in his deliberate palate.  He compiled a long list of candidates and was clear in his resolve for this to be his next interview in a growing series, with lots of good individuals to choose from.

Venue
US Climate Researcher Jennifer Hynes has been invited by leading New Zealand activistKevin Hester to be in Auckland for a public talk at IKA Seafood Bar and Grill, 1 pm Saturday 14-Feb-2015.  You can elect to order your own Tapas, beverages, or drinks. Example menu is here (varies monthly).

There she will continue discussing her seminal Methane Monster presentations.  Her videos contained serious warnings, which instantly went round the world, going viral on YouTube.  She made clear, easy to understand explanations as to the fact and certainty of polar and ocean warming, the imminent threat of methane, serious pressures upon both ecologies and economies, and the hidden fight of those who rule this world, who know full well what is to come yet go on pretending they do not.  At our great cost.

Summary

From an early age, Jennifer has been witness to much of the social and natural expressions of our planet.  Getting exposed to indigenous cultures from an early age then receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at The University of California of San Diego, she followed a call then sought out advanced engineering and technical training.  She grew to become a senior IT professional with a specialization in large data migration.  Thus Jennifer has extensive experience with processes that are large and which demand the utmost precision.  This means, for example, that if you had to move a database of 10M contacts, integrate a supply chain, structure an electronic inventory, or secure financial records, she would be the one with major responsibilities for furnishing this to large corporations with zero-defect or no possible service interruption.
Bio

Besides her activism and senior role in large technology professionally, she grew with a parent in foreign services.  Because her father was a Foreign Service Officer for the US Department of State, in particular a Program Officer in the Agency for International Development (AID), she got to travel and see a lot.  Going from Washington DC as a young woman, with her parents to Laos during the Vietnam war, she grew up overseas in South East Asia (Laos) and West Africa (Ghana) then went on to international studies in French at the American College in Paris.

Providence
This early exposure to world cultures combined with close study of the developing world and current affairs led to her deep and abiding interest Eastern spirituality.  She is a long time student of Tibetan Buddhism.  She even had the good fortune to meet Lama Karma after she came from California, running into him dressed in plain clothes at a FedEx Kinkos in Boulder, helped him materially to get situated, and has for long been active in the greater Denver spiritual community.
Realization

Using her ample capability gained from earned project management credentials in major enterprise, she has been studying climate change as a lay person for over ten years.  She feels a deep sense of urgency about global warming.  Having flown as a young girl and knowing first-hand the expanses of Greenland’s whiteness which was now clearly gone, she was struck by the vast darkness of the land surface during a life altering flyover in the summer of 2012.  From that, she was driven to understand the scale and impact of obviouscarbon impact from industrialization.  While climate science and global warming had been on her radar for a long time, it was not till the following summer that she immersed herself deep into the details of methane, and the relationship between carbon, industrialization, and severe ice loss.

Getting Called
Through Jennifer’s participation in a CoreLight ‘Tipping Point’ Forum in July 2012, leaders asked her to develop a succinct presentation about methane hydrate outlining her findings.  From there her first video, The Arctic Methane Monster’s Rapid Rise was born and the rest is history.  Many found it to be quite rousing about the threat of Near Term Human Extinction.  Truth be told, despite her expressed decision not to never seek popularity or fame, with a busy and successful career for a fortune 100 Corporation, itself one of the world category leaders, the video went viral, taking on a life of its own.  Other videos had talked about methane but never so clearly, cleanly, and convincingly.  And best of all, she was NOT a scientist but a generalist.  But she did not just come to her original topic as an activist alone, but with the vision of a well-trained engineer.

They Say
Accolades came from top arctic researcher Sam Carana’s Arctic News Blog and immediate recognition with a live interview by Guy McPherson’s Nature Bats Last show on Progressive Radio Network.  She is mentioned in conjunction with Noam Chomsky, Paul Ehrlich, and Chris Hedges as shown here.  Says professional government disaster specialist Nick Burk of ReliefAnalysis.com, Jennifer’s epic series of viral videos are ‘the most comprehensive and comprehensible complete overview of abrupt climate change available’.

Mission
Later in the year, an intuitive with a business and organizational development, and communications background told her that the world would be calling her saying, ‘yes, you have to get ready, and no is not an option’.  At first, she did not quite believe it.  It turned out to be true.  Respected people kept calling.  Jennifer’s continuing personal journey is one of uniting scientific discovery with the transformation of consciousness, and how to find balance amidst coming chaos.

Invitation
As Kevin says:  Termination his membership in the Green party of Aotearoa, By The Daily Blog  /   December 14, 2015

Dear Madam / Sir, I respectively wish to have my Green Party membership terminated forthwith in light of what I believe to be the ‘Greens’ abject  failure to face up to the dire consequences of abrupt climate change and their complicity in the incineration of the bio-sphere.

I have been having major issues with the party policy of sugar coating the severity of this planetary emergency but the tipping point for me was yesterday’s pronouncement by James Shaw that the signing of the agreement at Cop21  was a positive achievement . It was patently nothing of the sort. The agreement has achieved no substantive commitments to reduce emissions with nothing being obligatory. As in Copenhagen the can has been kicked down the road and further over the cliff.

Cop 21 has  effectively produced an agreement to emit more not less with near total disregard for tipping points like the melting permafrost, methane clathrates discharges from the ocean floor and numerous others. … I find it very telling that leading climate scientist James E Hansen can refer to COP 21 as a ’ Fraud’ and James Shaw describe it as a historic achievement, wtf, cognitive dissonance or denial? Whose side is James Shaw on, the environments and all the species that live within it  or “ The Dominant Culture” as my friend Professor Guy McPherson ( guymcpherson.com ) refers to the economic and financial system that is incinerating the bio-sphere, where we humans  live as a predatory part of.  This dereliction of duty is unforgivable from a party supposedly environmentally conscious.

Supporting the agreement in any way is the same as  leading the populace that trusts the party,  sleepwalking to extinction.  … Yesterday was a sad day in the history of this planet with an effective death sentence being passed on most species, including ours  and the entire  biosphere. Today is a sad day for me personally with me giving up on the Green Party of Aotearoa but I cannot support a party that is willfully in dereliction of it’s duty for what I believe is political expediency .  Being the best of a bad bunch is not acceptable, lying to the parties supporters and the “ youth of today” is unforgivable.

Sadly, Yours faithfully, Kevin Hester, Former Green Party Member’
