Headlines - 05/22/2015

Russia has urged its citizens to weigh all the risks before traveling abroad, warning that the US is on a global “hunt” for Russian nationals, according to the latest statement published by the Foreign Ministry.

Russian citizens abroad face a very “real” threat of being detained or arrested by US law enforcement and special services, especially when traveling to countries that have extradition treaties with Washington, the ministry said on its website.

There have been over a dozen cases demonstrating just that, the statement added. “The American authorities continue the unacceptable practice of ‘hunting’ for Russians all over the world, ignoring the norms of international laws and twisting the arms of other states.”

The Ukrainian Parliament on Thursday voted to unilaterally scrap five agreements with Russia on military cooperation

The US Treasury Department authorized the export of social media and communications software and services to the Russian region of Crimea on Friday.

Although Crimea already has many Internet users and bloggers who document changes and conditions on the peninsula, the explanatory note states that the new action "is in U.S. national security and foreign policy interests because it helps create a potentially uncontrolled access point."

The United States does not consider Crimea to be a part of Russia, but rather a part of Ukraine that it has enacted an embargo against, similar to one previously enacted over Cuba.

President Barack Obama signed into law a bill allowing Congress to review any agreement reached with Iran over its controversial nuclear program.

The fact that the legislation earned Obama’s signature is notable because he initially opposed attempts by congressional lawmakers to insert themselves into the delicate negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 (the US, UK, France, China, Russia and Germany).

The two sides have already agreed to a framework for a final deal, though significant details still need to be hammered out, including the pace and timing for lifting the sanctions on Iran, and exactly what kind of nuclear energy infrastructure Tehran will be allowed to maintain.

A series of atmospheric events, beginning with El Niño and a string of powerful Northwest Pacific typhoons, have led to record heat across much of Alaska.

The heat has caused rapid snowmelt that flooded the crucial oil trucking route between Fairbanks and Deadhorse, Alaska, which may jeopardize oil production in Prudhoe Bay.

It has also broken longstanding records throughout interior parts of the state.

Some locations in Alaska have had their warmest temperatures ever recorded so early in the year — soaring into the 70s and 80s in inland portions of the state.

Meanwhile in Texas and Oklahoma, typically much milder locations at this time of year, temperatures have been held down due to round after round of severe thunderstorms and heavy rain showers, with all-time monthly rainfall records in jeopardy.
Anti-ISIS coalition knowingly sponsored violent extremists to ‘isolate’ Assad, rollback ‘Shia expansion’ - by Nafeez Ahmed

A declassified secret US government document obtained by the conservative public interest law firm, Judicial Watch, shows that Western governments deliberately allied with al-Qaeda and other Islamist extremist groups to topple Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad.

The document reveals that in coordination with the Gulf states and Turkey, the West intentionally sponsored violent Islamist groups to destabilize Assad, despite anticipating that doing so could lead to the emergence of an ‘Islamic State’ in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

According to the newly declassified US document, the Pentagon foresaw the likely rise of the ‘Islamic State’ as a direct consequence of the strategy, but described this outcome as a strategic opportunity to “isolate the Syrian regime.”

This article first published by GR in November 2006 is of particular relevance to an understanding of the ongoing process of destabilization and political fragmentation of Iraq, Syria and Yemen.

Ukrainian fascists hanged the militiaman and his pregnant wife and videotaped murder

Your media will never show You: Ukrainian fascists hanged the militiaman and his pregnant wife and videotaped murder. Like modern fascists from Israel and NATO Ukrainian ones made souvenir photos before and during double execution.
EU/US/Israel brought to Ukraine cannibal fascist regime. The horrors of Nazi occupation, about whichwe read in the documentary novels and stories about World War II have now become a reality. Now the EU/US/Israel and other Western countries support the worst in Ukraine and call it democracy.

EU/US/Israel has brought same democracy to Iraq, Libya, Syria and other countries, we see there the constant fights, executions, tortures, rapes and looting. Now this horror and chaos was brought to Ukraine. Now our brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers are subjected to rape, torture and execution by the fascists and mercenaries from EU/US/Israel.

Watch this video about hanging of man and a pregnant woman. Them hanged the fascists from the battalion "Donbass", which was created by Israeli citizens - Igor Kolomoisky and his team...

The Ukrainian fascists by constant beatings, tortures and violence drive their victims to a state of apathy, and then execute them. Ukrainian fascists, like their counterparts from Al-Qaeda rape of both sexes.

Before hanging the fascists of Donbass batallion make a souvenir photos with each of the victims. With pregnant woman they photographed often. They remind fascists of Nazi Germany, soldiers of Israel and soldiers of NATO countries by this behavior. Watch this video and remember that this is Western democracy, which came to Ukraine.

These man and pregnant woman who were executed by fascists, appeared to be militiaman and his wife.

Lawsuits worth around 170 billion hryvnia, or more than 8 billion dollars, have been filed by international investors and other legal entities against Ukraine, according to the country's Deputy Justice Minister Anton Yanchuk.

He was quoted by the Ukrainian Independent Information Agency UNIAN as saying that "the Ministry of Justice is currently dealing with 19 lawsuits related to Ukraine and foreign investors; also, the ministry is handling the pre-trial mediation of 21 claims against Ukraine."

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk sees no reason why his government should account for the use of funds provided by the country’s international donors, a Belgian newspaper reported Thursday.

Sebastian Gobert, the Kiev-based correspondent for La Libre Belgique newspaper, wrote that, when interviewing Yatsenyuk, he noted that the Kiev authorities should be held accountable for the expenditure of the donated money.

Why should we do this now that young Ukrainians are dying on the eastern front fighting for European security? I think this is more than enough!” the Premier said.

As of Tuesday evening, the petition -- which asks for the peaceful withdrawal of the state of Texas from the union -- had racked up more than 81,000 signatures.

(Only 25,000 are needed to elicit an official response from the Obama administration.)

According to Politico, the leader of the Texas secession movement said the president's reelection last week was a “catalyzing moment for his organization’s efforts to quit the United States."

On Tuesday, an oil pipeline burst near Refugio State Beach west of Santa Barbara, California, sending an estimated 105,000 gallons of oil onto the beach. Up to a fifth of that oil is believed to have reached the ocean, Reuters reports.

Now, volunteers and private contractors are racing to clean up the oil. About 6,000 gallons have been collected so far, according to the AP. But damage has already been done. At least two pelicans have been found dead, and five more pelicans and one sea lion were sent for rehabilitation. Biologists have also found many dead fish and lobsters. Local officials have closed the beach at least through Memorial Day, and possibly for "many weeks" after that, one scientist at the scene said

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - An early morning fire forced evacuation of 28 workers from an oil rig off Louisiana's coast early Friday.

The fire was still burning Friday evening, the Coast Guard and an environmentalist who flew over the site said.
