History is being rewritten

From Alexander Mercouris, via Facebook

AUSCHWITZ
the controversy over Putin's non-invitation has brought out some utterly appalling behaviour.

Thus we have this frightful piece in the Guardian by the British "historian" Anthony Beevor which whilst purportedly supporting an invitation to Putin to attend the commemoration is actually a further attempt to lump Putin with Stalin whilst dredging up old Cold War accusations of Soviet Holocaust denial.

Now we have the Foreign Minister of Poland no less claiming that because the Red Army unit that liberated Auschwitz was drawn from the First Ukrainian Front Auschwitz was liberated by the Ukrainians rather than the Russians.

All this coming just a few weeks after the western powers' refusal to support the UN resolution condemning fascism and the western silence in the face of Yatsenyuk's comment in Berlin about the USSR having invaded Ukraine and Germany.

How far is this all going to go? Can the western leaders not see what their support for the junta in Kiev is doing to them?
Rewriting history? Polish FM says Ukrainians liberated Auschwitz, Russia puzzled

RT,
21 January, 2015

The Polish FM’s statement that it was the Ukrainians who liberated the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp has puzzled Moscow. Russia’s UN envoy remarked that the Soviet Army, which liberated the camp, was actually multinational.

The 1st Ukrainian front and Ukrainians liberated [the concentration camp], as on that January day there were Ukrainian soldiers, so they opened the gates of the camp,” said Foreign Minister of Poland, Grzegorz Schetyna, speaking on Polish radio on Wednesday.

He was answering a question related to invitations to join the ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Red Army on January 27, 1945.

Following the comment, Russia’s UN envoy Vitaly Churkin reminded Schetyna that the Soviet Army had liberated the concentration camp, adding that the front was called first Ukrainian “as it liberated Ukraine from the Nazis before reaching Poland through battles.”

Like all other parts of the Red Army, [the front] was multinational and consisted of Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Georgians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis, representatives of the peoples of Central Asia, and many others – more than 100 ethnic groups of the Soviet Union,” Churkin said addressing the Polish UN envoy, Bogusław Winid, speaking at the UN conference commemorating the liberation of the camp on Wednesday in New York.

Churkin urged Winid to explain the grave mistake to the Polish FM saying that: I’m sure he didn’t intend to offend so many peoples.”

Memory of WWII must be respected – Moscow

It is our common duty to the victims of genocide and future generations – to protect the truth about WWII,” said Churkin.

Despite the shocking number of genocide victims, we see Waffen-SS veterans marching in European cities, which Nazis tried to demolish during at whatever cost. The Nazi past is being glorifies, neo-Nazism is on the rise,” he dded.

: Stronger efforts are needed to prevent the revival of . The anti-Nazism vaccine in some countries is loosing its effect
It is important to respect the memory of all those who liberated Europe, Russia’s Foreign Ministry also said on Wednesday commenting on the Polish FM’s statement.
It is really difficult to imagine that a government official of a level as high as Schetyna’s could be so ignorant,” the comment said. Incidentally, the 1st Ukrainian Front had the official name of the Voronezh Front prior to November 1943, and before that, it was the Bryansk Front.”

We believe some individuals should stop deriding history and letting their anti-Russian hysteria push them to the brink of disrespect for those who didn't spare their lives to liberate Europe,” the ministry dded.

:Only the US,Canada,Ukraine &Palau voted against the resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism

UK-based journalist and writer Neil Clark told RT that today, history is being rewritten for political purposes.
The fact of the matter is that it was the Soviet Red Army which liberated that appalling camp Auschwitz...” he said. Yet now in 2015 we are rewriting history to write out the role of the Red army liberating Auschwitz for political purposes.”

In 2015 no specific invitations for the commemoration event were issued, as Polish authorities have passed this duty to the Auschwitz Museum and the International Auschwitz Council. The organizers of the ceremony stated that all nations, contributing funds to the site, had been asked if they were going to participate, without personal invitations.
Putin will not be attending the event, as he has not received any invitation, said his spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Russia will be represented by the Head of the Presidential Administration Sergey Ivanov.
The commemoration of the liberation of the Nazi death camp is set to take place on January 27. It comes 70 years after the Soviet troops liberated it in 1945. About 1.5 million victims were imprisoned in Auschwitz, many of them Soviet citizens.

A wonderful film, practically unknown in the West, Osvobozhdeniye (Liberation) was made in the USSR in the late 1960's.

Oh how much these Poles hate Russia...

Amazing.  I mean - everybody knew that Iatseniuk is an evil congenital liar, but that he represents a regime of freaks anyway.  But Poland, I had assumed, was a civilized country, run by by mentally sane, if a tad subservient to the USA, people.  And then this bombshell:
Asked on Polish radio on Wednesday why Putin was not invited to the commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz, the Foreign Minister of Poland, Grzegorz Schetyna, declared: "The 1st Ukrainian front and Ukrainians liberated [the concentration camp], as on that January day there were Ukrainian soldiers, so they opened the gates of the camp".

So following the German statement that when "Iats" declared that the Soviet Union had invaded Germany he was using his "freedom of speech" now we have Poland telling us that Ukrainians liberated Auschwitz, not Russians or even multi-ethnic Soviets, and no furore results from any of that.

Some revisionism is more equal then other revisionism, apparently.

So now we know why Poroshenko is invited.  Because "his" Ukrainians liberated Auschwitz.  I wonder if he will have the gall to shout the Banderist slogan "
glory to the Ukraine, to the heroes glory!" like he always does at home.

But you know the worst of it?

Ukrainian liberators?

What a disgusting crying shame that Jewish organizations - who should know who liberated Auschwitz and what Ukie nationalism was during WWII - are remaining silent about this.  Not only that, they should know that the Soviet Union accounts for no less then 80% of the world's effort to beat Hitler and that Russians account for about 80% of the Soviet war effort.  In other words, those European Jews who survived WWII really owe their lives to Russia.  Not the Ukraine which welcomed Hitler with flowers and then produced one of the two worst Nazi movements in Europe (the other one being the Ustashe of Ante Pavelic).

But then again, since western Europeans are not celebrating V day at the same time as Russians and since they even organize commemorative events which do not even mention Russia or the USSR, what is there to be surprised about?

The Knight Defender of the West?

I won't even go into Operation Unthinkable which declared that "Russia is a threat to Western Civilization" or how US/UK big banks and corporations financed Hitler during his entire career.  For all the anti-Nazi propaganda and demonization of Hitler, Hitler was always "our boy", even when he was a "bad boy": the Knight Defender of the West!  He was but the continuator of many other West European leaders who had attempted to subjugate Russia.

At a time of severe tensions between the EU and Russia, it is only normal that we would witness a creeping rehabilitation if not of Hitler himself, then at least of some key aspects of Nazi propaganda.

So now we have it.  Russia occupied Germany, the Ukraine liberated Auschwitz and soon we will be told that Stalin ordered the Holocaust, bombed Dresden and dropped nuclear devices on Japan.  Then just call Putin the New Stalin and, voilà! We will be back to the good old "western civilization" against the "Asiatic Mongol hordes of Russia".

Some things really never change.  And, of course, Russia will prevail this time around too!
