Kim Dotcom and the fascist state

These comments by Patrick O’Dea on Facebook pretty much sums up the situation:

"Trial by media, closed courts.

"This is a shocking new development, more typical of a police state.

"This a direct attack on our democracy and the right of citizens and residents to a fair trial.

"That it is being done at the behest of a foreign power is makes it even more sinister.

"The Americans with the help of our government and the New Zealand state, are trying to control the narrative with secret hearings. The language of the media has also become more agressive, so that instead of being able to hear the evidence against Dotcom for ourselves, or even know what he is being charged with, we get loaded public accusations of "racketeer" and "money launderer".

"When the only charges we know of that Dotcom is facing are of copyright infringement.

"An offence the ruling National Party itself committed when they used the music of M&M's signature tune '8 mile' for their election ads. Which John Key himslelf dismissed as an offence of no consequence."

.....

Quite frankly I feel like hanging my head in shame at the my fellow New Zealanders who could give a f....k about a whistleblower who put his neck on the line to reveal deep corruption in this country.  John Key is at least right about one thing.

Between the power of the US State and its minions in this country; a compliant media that on't even come to the defence of one of their own (Nicky Hager) and the apathy of the population-at-large Kim Dotcom and other whistleblowers and truthtellers don't stand a chance.

Where are Kim Dotcom's friends now?

We now have a state with full secret police powers, secret courts and the Big Lie.

No one can say they weren't warned.

This quote from Pastor Niemoller comes to mind:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Dotcom back to prison? Bail hearing adjourned

UPDATE: Kim Dotcom's bail hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow. Details of what the Crown alleges still can't be reported.

The Crown is applying to have Dotcom's bail revoked. The accused pirate, money launderer and racketeer was held in Mt Eden Prison after the January 20, 2012 raid on his rented mansion before being granted bail on February 22, 2012.

EARLIER: Acussed pirate Kim Dotcom's bail hearing began in the Auckland District Court this morning.

However, an order from Judge Nevin Dawson is preventing any media from reporting the proceedings until it is completed. The hearing was set down for half a day but is expected to run longer.

The reasons the Crown want to revoke Mr Dotcom's bail are unable to published but earlier this week Mr Dotcom's lawyer Ron Mansfield told the Auckland District Court the allegations were denied.

At a preliminary hearing last week, the judge imposed strict new bail conditions, which remain.

Mr Dotcom may not travel more than 80 kilometres from his Coatesville home and is not allowed to travel by helicopter or boat.

  1. It would appear that KDC attracts fair weather friends. I hope they didn't enjoy too much of his hospitality then forgot who he was once the golden syrup ran out?
