The North Pole

Temperature amomalies at the North Pole

The light brown is a temperature anomaly over the Arctic Ice. The brown is also over land and oceans. As you can see, there is a temperature anomaly over the ice clear up to the North Pole. Longyearben, Svalbard is 43 degrees F. Why is this important? Because when the Arctic Ice thaws and leaves open water the release of huge uncontrollable amounts of heat trapping methane won't be far behind. (Among a lot of other reasons)
