Videos from Paul Beckwith

Paul Beckwith weighs in behind geoengineering

Can climate change cause human extinction?

No sane person can expect indefinite exponential growth on a finite planet. Are we close to a breaking point? Can we slam on the brakes? Is NTHE (near-term human extinction) possible? How long is near-term anyway? Decades, centuries, or millennia? That depends on who you ask...

Can global sea-level rise 7 meters by 2070?

Global sea levels rose about 2 mm per year over the last century, but this rate increased to 3.4 mm/yr over the last decade. As Greenland and Antarctic ice cap melt rates accelerate, they open up the likely scenario of a global sea level rise of 7 meters (21 feet) by 2070.

Cooling the Arctic with geoengineering

The idea of geoengineering sends shivers through the spines of many people. In this video I explain why it is absolutely necessary to cool the Arctic to keep the feedbacks in check while we slash GHG emissions.

  1. I am no longer surprised at the weak understanding scientist actually have regarding human survival on a warming planet. Beckwith doesn't seem to understand the food situation at all. Lovelock has become deranged regarding human survival, temperatures, nuclear energy and more. These are not men who have actually come to grips on what it means for just 4C temperature increases, let alone 8C - 10C. It's rather sad and tragic that there is so little practical understanding from these climate advocates.
