Obama pulls out of talk with Russian FM

Before Obama’s speech on Syria the US requested phone talk with Russian FM but backtracked later – diplomatic source

Before President Barack Obama’s speech on Syria, the US requested a telephone conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Foreign Secretary John Kerry. However, at the last moment the US withdrew, a diplomatic source in Moscow reports.

RIA Novosti quotes the source saying that at the appointed time the Department of State unexpectedly informed the Russian side about the impossibility of the conversation without offering any explanations.

On Saturday Obama announced that he had made a decision to carry out a military operation against the Syrian regime. He said that he intended to receive approval of the Congress. Later, John Boehner, Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced that the lower chamber of US Congress will discuss the acceptability of a military action against the Syrian regime after the 9th of September.
