Earthquake in Guatemala


Magnitude 6.2 quake – GUATEMALA



The quake was initially reported as magnitude 5.8, though it was quickly upgraded to 6.2.

Guatemala Emergency Services official says no initial reports of damage or victims, but authorities are still assessing the situation.

Earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 and over have the potential of causing severe damage.

The earthquake was recorded as being about 150km underground. The depth is likely to have reduced its impact upon the city.




This event has been reviewed by a seismologist.
