Headlines from the Ukrainian civil war




Some 300 US paratroopers arrived this week in the western Ukrainian city of Yavoriv to conduct military training with the Kiev forces, the US Army said on its website.




The arrival of US military instructors in Ukraine can aggravate the situation. Furthermore, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will take advantage of the modern weapons and equipment that the "guests" are likely to leave in the country.



The Simon Wiesenthal Center has condemned Ukraine’s recognition of the group as well as a second bill that equated communist and Nazi crimes. Seventy years after the end of the Holocaust, Ukraine’s parliament has extended official recognition to a nationalist militia that collaborated with the Germans during the Second World War





The journalist and ex-MP who were gunned down in Kiev this week were on an ‘enemies of the state’ database – a social media website supported by the aide to Ukraine's interior minister. The bloggers also have a Twitter account to share ‘successes.’

The volunteer-made website calling itself ‘Mirotvorec’ (Peacekeeper), posts very thorough and comprehensive information on anyone who happens to make the list – journalists, activists, MPs opposing the current Kiev authorities' policies and rebels fighting against the government in the east. The posts include their addresses, social media account links, a substantial biography and any mentions in the Ukrainian press. There is also labeling involved e.g. “terrorist; supporter of federalization” and other tags.




On the eve of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazism, Kiev instructed Ukrainian media to place special emphasis on the role of the Ukrainian people and several groups in the victory of WWII. It is striking, however, that some of these groups are being accused of collaboration with the Nazis.





As previously reported by the "Russian Spring", in Odessa before the rally against rising utility prices, low pensions [1,000 UAH - KR] and salaries, protesters were detained.


The arrests, according to witnesses, were conducted by the police officers and the militants from the "Right Sector" and activists of Automaidan.


People were taken to an unknown destination. Seniors who participated in the action were threatened.


The protesters demanded to give Odessa region a status of "Porto-Franco" - a free trade zone. "We came here to a peaceful rally in support of initiatives to strengthen local self-government, including initiating"Porto-Franco" in Odessa.

Today the situation is such that the region regularly sends the taxes of the population to Kiev, however, only a small part comes back. [20% according to some sources - KR]


And there should be a fair distribution of funds between the region and the center to address socio-economic issues.


We wanted to tell the officials that will not allow lawlessness and require them to fulfill their duty before the people," said one of the protesters Alexander Radkovsky, adding that the meeting was agreed upon, and the right to peaceful assembly is granted by the Constitution of Ukraine.


After a while to the meeting near the Opera house and in the Tchaikovsky alley came Automaydan's activists and tried to disperse the protesters.



In all 53 people were detained.

Internment is the imprisonment or confinement[1] of people, commonly in large groups, without trial. Collins English dictionary defines internment as "the act of interning or state of being interned, esp of enemy citizens in wartime or of terrorism suspects".[2] Thus, while it can simply mean imprisonment, it tends to refer to preventative confinement rather than confinement after having been convicted of some crime. Use of these terms is subject to debate and political sensitivities.[3]

Interned persons may be held at prisons or at facilities known as internment camps. In certain contexts, these may be known, either officially or pejoratively, as concentration camp.

Internment also refers to the practice of neutral countries in time of war in detaining belligerent armed forces and equipment in their territories under the Hague Convention of 1907.[4]

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights restricts the use of internment. Article 9 states that "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile."[5]
Fans of the Kremlin should be confined for up to  five years, until regime and mentality changes in Russia, or they should be offered to leave on their own.

This idea was put forward by website "Khvylya", close to the administration of Poroshenko .

So the fans of the Kremlin should be confined for five years, until the regime and mentality will change in Russia, or offer them to leave on their own.

This is not the first scandalous publication on this site. Earlier the editor-in-chief of "Khvylya," close to Bankovaya, political analyst Yury Romanenko posted on Facebook calls for "targeted killing of Russian journalists in the Donbass".
