Mike Ruppert

Today I received from Carolyn Baker the sad and shocking news that Mike Ruppert, after completing his show on PRN ended his own life.

I am still processing this, but no doubt will be writing my own appreciation of Mike's life

Michael C Ruppert

IN MEMORIAM MICHAEL C. RUPPERT, February 3, 1951--April 13, 2014.

Sunday night following Mike's Lifeboat Hour radio show, he was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This was not a "fake" suicide. It was very well planned by Mike who gave us few clues but elaborate instructions for how to proceed without him. His wishes were to be cremated, and as of this moment, there are no plans for a memorial service. However, I will be taking his show this coming Sunday night, April 20, and the entire show will be an In Memoriam show for Mike with opportunities for listeners to call in.

It was my privilege to have known Mike for 14 years, to have worked with him, to have been mentored by him, and to have supported him in some of his darkest hours, including the more recent ones. I am posting this announcement with the blessing of his partner Jesse Re and his landlord, Jack Martin.

Thank you Mike for all of the truth you courageously exposed and for the legacy of truth-telling you left us. Goodbye my friend. Your memory will live in hour hearts forever.

I have no more details to share than I am posting here. We should have much more information by Sunday night

 Carolyn Baker

  1. I hope Wes can do a good job on behalf of Mike:

  2. I am deeply saddened to hear this news. My sincere condolences to everyone who knew, loved and respected him.

I first became aware of MCR when I attended a 911 conference in San Francisco around 2004-5. Upon hearing him speak, I immediately became a subscriber to the FTW newsletter. I have been trackin' the tracker ever since. It is a rare thing these days to see such a bold truth teller.

Anyway, let's all honor his memory by carryin' it forward.

    Regards to all

  5. I wasn't a fan for many reasons. Ruppert had been exhibiting strange behavior for a while. His pettiness might have been because of deepening depression. Or he was ill.

In any case, everyone has a right to check-out when they choose, I can respect that. There isn't a lot to look forward to if you are alone.

  6. This really sucks. Had a feeling it was coming, but thought he would stick around for a while out of curiosity to see how things unfolded, i.e. "pass the popcorn". Or wait till his beloved dog passed.

Wonder how spontaneous it was, as he gave no indication during the show he was at wit's end.
Can't imagine how the combination of being consumed / burdened by bad news for over a decade (as the main force behind "From the Wilderness"and "Collapsenet") and the feeling of being under appreciated all along wore on his psyche. He saw where the world was headed long before most people but couldn't get nearly enough to listen. How frustrating it must have been.

MCR, J H Kunstler, C Martenson, R Heinberg, and Lester Brown have had profound impact on my life in recent years. They (and others) have really opened my eyes and I'm very thankful to all.

If there is an afterlife, I hope Rupe's is a great one.

  7. What evidence do we have that he committed suicide and was not murdered like so many others? He supposedly killed himself a few hours after he did a podcast. He claimed it was an important podcast and he ended the show with a see you guys next week.
