Corporate Media Silence over Fukushima

The US Corporate Media - Killing Us with Silence over Fukushima
Many very credible sources are talking plainly about the single greatest and very real threat to human existence that we have ever faced -- FUKUSHIMA. It’s happening right now and we have the chance to save our own lives, yet our governments are silent and this Armageddon scenario is being denied coverage by virtually every “mainstream” media outlet.

It has been five days since one of the world’s foremost experts on nuclear energy and safety issued the following dire report:

Unit 4 has always been my biggest concern…Unit 4 has more fuel in it than any of the other units in the complex, but more importantly it has the most recently used nuclear fuel.  And all of that fuel is outside of the containment.  So that would make it dangerous enough.  Except that also, of course, Unit 4 has had a series of explosions and is weakened structurally...
If air is all there is cooling the fuel, it will burn.  It will burn the zircaloy cladding on the fuel, (and) will react with the oxygen to create a fire.  And it is a fire that once it starts, cannot be put out by water.  Water would make it worse.  So the nuclear fuel would have to burn completely before the fire would ever go out.
In the process, all that radiation would go up into the atmosphere and blow all over Japan and all over the world.
There is as much cesium in the fuel pool at Unit 4 as there was in all of the atomic bombs dropped in all of the tests in the 1940's, the 1950's, the 1960's, and into the 1970's.  All of the above ground testing has less cesium in it than is in the reactor pool at Fukushima 4 right now.  So it is a grave situation…We have to quickly move that fuel out of that pool and onto the ground.  The key here is quickly.” (emphasis added) Starting at minute 1:10 of this video below:

It has been 31 days since April 16, when U.S. Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon returned from Fukushima with similar news. From his press release of April 16, 2012:

“…Wyden’s principal concern is the relocation of spent fuel rods currently being stored in unsound structures immediately adjacent to the ocean.  He strongly urged the Ambassador to accept international help to prevent dangerous nuclear material from being released into the environment…

The precarious status of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear units and the risk presented by the enormous inventory of radioactive materials and spent fuel in the event of further earthquake threats should be of concern to all and a focus of greater international support and assistance.”

And as Sen. Wyden stated in the only media interview (shown below) aired by mainstream TV news:
“…TEPCO has a ten-year plan for essentially moving the spent fuel rods to dry storage. That must be sped up because if another earthquake or tsunami hits, it could be very, very damaging and possibly more radiation than earlier.”

CollapseNet is not alone in recognizing The Greatest Single Threat to Humanity: Fuel Pool Number 4, but now we have additional confirmation from a U.S. Senator who just visited the site and is calling it a direct threat to U.S. National Security. As reported by Alternet, “In a statement released by his office, Wyden replied, “The radiation caused by the failure of the spent fuel pools in the event of another earthquake could reach the West Coast within days. That absolutely makes the safe containment and protection of this spent fuel a security issue for the United States.”
To make matters worse, more serious earthquakes and aftershocks are expected as the fault near Fukushima has “awakened”.
Listen folks, if Fukushima Fuel Pool #4 gets dumped, by current structural failure of the severely damaged building or as the result of another of the hundreds of aftershocks since the 9.0 earthquake, not only will we have more radioactive cesium than all 800 above ground nuclear bomb tests done in our history – all at once – wafting through the Northern Hemisphere, it also means that NO ONE and NO THING will be able to work on the remaining reactors and fuels pools.  Now that gets really bad because it means ALL remaining fuel pools will eventually ignite, too, burning 10,893 spent fuel assemblies. Then it’s “Game Over” for humans.
If the international community does not take action immediately to secure Fuel Pool #4, we all might die very soon!
Guess how many “mainstream” national or international television news agencies are covering this story?
Zero.
Many very credible sources are talking plainly about the single greatest and very real threat to human existence that we have ever faced. It’s happening right now and we have the chance to save our own lives, yet our governments are silent and this Armageddon scenario is being denied coverage by virtually every “mainstream” media outlet.
It is not hyperbole to say that this is equivalent to a giant asteroid on a collision course with Earth that we can see coming, and we have the capability to deflect it, but instead our political and media elites choose to cover it up, cross their fingers, and  hope it misses!?
ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, BBC, Current, and PBS – none of these retail news organizations have dared cover the most important story of our lives happening right now. I have to ask their editors and management, are tornadoes, beauty pageants, political horse races, and celebrity fucking the only things you deem worthy to cover? I’m pretty certain that if a missing white women or a cheating politician were involved, your TV reporters would be on this story like starving pit-bulls at a sausage factory.
In a way I’m shocked that the Wyden interview made it on MSNBC at all, considering that they are owned by GE, the maker of the Mark1 reactor at Fukushima, but I commend young Mr. Russert for rocking the boat at all. So where is the follow-up, by ANY major news organization?
I understand the “business-as-usual” method of reporting – or rather, not reporting – the really vital news of the day. That is why CollapseNet and other independent media are so necessary and have a growing audience. But we’re at another level of incompetence or corruption entirely here…
You “MSM” press minions and editors, listen up - your job, prestige, access to political and business fiends, your chance at fame, glory and a fantastic retirement, all of that means exactly nothing if that nuclear fuel pool collapses. You will die too, as will your kids, your family, and every other person you have ever known.
We all know that if the general public understood the facts about Fukushima as much as they understand the George Zimmerman case or how well some fake celebrity is getting on with her current squeeze, the public pressure to demand immediate international action might actually cause immediate international action at the scale it needs to be in order to prevent us all from getting killed.
Your failure to properly cover Fukushima has been an embarrassment and a disgrace to this point. Failure to cover it presently could be suicidal.  This is not merely a “national security” issue; it is a HUMAN SURVIVAL issue!
Get it yet, “press-corpse”?
Now do your jobs like you are supposed to. If you have a family, put them ahead of your miserable careers for just this one time. We’ll all be grateful for it.
