Please go to this page. Write a submission. My one is pasted here below but remember you submission have to be unique otherwise they can chuck it on a pile and treat it as one submission so if you use it change it to make it uniquely yours) After you send it in take the time to call the ministry. Here is the phone number: (04) 819 4372 and tell them again why you want the Maui dolphin habitat to be protected.
To the Ministry of Fisheries,
Dear Minister,
Tomorrow you will be voting about the West coast of the North Island and whether you will allow seabed mining and other destructive practices to go ahead in this vulnerable eco system.
I know you are probably under a lot of pressure from foreign mining companies or even local mining agencies to give the go ahead.
We who live along these coasts love our marine environment en we love the Maui dolphin.
Voting for opening up the West coast to seabed mining is the death sentence for this rare breed of dolphins and will show this government for what it is; Callous, short sighted, and focussed on short term financial gain over the wishes of the population for whom the sea is much more than a short term profit opportunity.
I write this submission to you in order to tell you I support the removal of the most urgent threats such as the  Gillnet and trawler fishing at least until the numbers of Maui dolphins have increased sufficiently to be able to survive again if not longer.
I also support the expansion of the trawler and gillnet ban areas to the entirety of the Maui Dolphin habitat and last but not least seabed mining has no place in the Maui dolphin habitat and I urge you to extend the protection of this vulnerable habitat with a blunt refusal to allow for permits to test or to mine our sea beds.
I urge you to remember that like all of us you are a human being and as such a part of this planet and not a separate entity who can destroy parts of our planets without consequence. Your children and your children's children will be left with the consequences of the decision you make tomorrow. Make the right decision.
