7-magnitude quake rocks western Mexico
A strong earthquake measuring seven on the Richter scale has struck western Mexico, rocking buildings in the capital Mexico City, the US Geological Survey (USGS) says.

The quake hit in the western Mexican state of Michoacan at a depth of 40.8 miles (65.6 kilometers) on Wednesday.
Emergency services in Michoacan and in the adjacent state of Guerrero have reported no casualties or serious damage yet.
Some experts have warned that the quake was powerful and deep enough to cause a tsunami, but the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, based in the US state of Hawaii’s capital Honolulu, has issued no tsunami warnings,.
Mexico City is located in an earthquake-prone zone and suffered a disastrous 8.1-magnitude tremor in 1985, which claimed the lives of thousands of people.
