Putin's back (as president)

Putin Cries As He Learns He Will Be Russian President Again

Exit polls are confirming that Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has won the Russian election, Russia Today reports.

Putin is reported to have received 58.3 percent of the vote, trouncing his closest rival Gennady Zyuganov, who got only 17.7 percent.

Official results will be published monday but it looks like there will be no need for a second round of voting.

Putin will replace current Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev in the role he himself already held from 2000 to 2008....

So while it wasn't too surprising that Putin appears to have won the presidential election today, it is a little unusual that the Russian strongman cried during an early victory party (itself a little unusual too, given that the official vote isn't even out yet).
