Pakistan says ready to import Iranian diesel fuel

TEHRAN - Pakistan has expressed willingness to import an annual amount of 165 million litres of Iran’s diesel fuel along with other crude oil refined products, reported Iran’s Press TV on Saturday.

Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Jalil Salari said on Saturday that the fuel will be transferred to Pakistan by rail network.

“The export of liquid fuels via the rail network will reduce the expenses of loading, transferring and discharging fuels,” Salari added.

Iran has already signed contracts to export gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and kerosene to Iraq, Afghanistan, Persian Gulf littoral states, and East Asia.

The country has exported about USD 9 billion of oil products including base gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, kerosene, and jet fuel to various countries during the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year starting from March 21, 2011.

Iran holds the world’s third-largest proven oil reserves and the second-largest natural gas reserves.
