The New Economics Party
Let's fix the economic system that is killing our planet!

A message to all members of New Zealand Transition Initiatives Social Network
Hello/kia ora

We are, Deirdre Kent and Laurence Boomert here and we are two administrators on this website. We have become very frustrated politically and so have started the New Economics Party (http://neweconomics.net.nz).

We respect that Transition Towns are apolitical, however we do know that Laurence is being asked by people on the streets whether the party is influenced by Transition Towns. The answer is YES.

Well we have been holding ourselves back from writing this letter to over a thousand of you.  So at the risk of offending those who actively support for other parties, we are inviting you all to go to the website of the New Economics Party at http://neweconomics.net.nz

This is an unregistered party this election so there is no option to “Party Vote New Economics” this time. Laurence is standing in Wellington Central to raise awareness.

We have been assembling policies from Living Economies, David Korten, Bernard Lietaer, Richard Douthwaite, Charles Eisenstein, Paul Gilding, James Hansen, Richard Heinberg, Bryan Innes, Susan Krumdiek, Dennis Tegg, Michael Ruppert, the New Economics Foundation, FEASTA of Ireland and many others.

We have been through our own shock, grief and despair about peak oil, climate change and economic turmoil. But now what gets us fired up is mapping out the solutions and being in action at a national level.  We have chosen to develop national policy platforms and feel a real responsibility to say what’s not being said.
